The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Budget & Finance Assistant will perform the following functions:

  • Enter and update work plans with planned costs in the GSM; requests for apportionment and amendment in GSM Follow-up of expenditures against contribution budgets, project funding, distribution of contributions and allocations from the Program Budget Proceed to the settlement of outstanding financial charges in relationship with travel costs and the purchase of goods and services.
  • Analyze the budget and prepare budget and contribution reports; Maintain books and records for the recording of financial transactions; ‘clearance of accounts and preparation of periodic or special reports.
  • Execution of payment instructions by payment of salaries, allowances, sums due for payment of travel expenses and other payments to officials, experts, consultants, suppliers and assigns Law.
  • Keep the cash books in particular by ensuring the control of the expenses and the concordance between the cash books and the general ledger.
  • Proceed to the weekly and monthly reconciliations of the cash books and bank statements of the advance account; with local bank officials to obtain up-to-date information on exchange and interest rates,modifications to the procedures and regulations and matters relating to the keeping of the accounts of the Bureau de la Representation.
  • Provide assistance to superiors in all aspects of the keeping of the accounts and budgetary control by means of reports on the financial situation, procedures, exchange rate, costs and expenses, as well as potential funding problems, financial data for budget and financial forecasts, and any other tasks required by the hierarchy.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • Completion of high school or specialized technical training in accounting, finance or budget management.
  • At least 08 years of experience with 3 to 5 years of practice in accounting, finance and budget.
  • Special ability in finance and accounting.
  • Ability to produce and analyze financial reports with a management tool.
  • Ability to interpret financial rules and regulations.
  • Very good computer skills with knowledge of spreadsheets such as Access and Excel.
  • Know how to create and maintain healthy working relationships with people of different nationalities and cultures.
  • Expert knowledge of French.
