The Senior Accounting Assistant is responsible for all aspects of the financial reporting and internal control framework for the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the International Development Association (IDA), the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the extensive Trust Fund/Partnership portfolio of those entities.

WBG has set two ambitious goals to push extreme poverty to no more 3 percent by 2030, and to promote shared prosperity and greater equity in the developing world.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Senior Accounting Assistant will perform the following functions-

  • Perform ex-ante reviews to verify accuracy and completeness of admin expense transactions in compliance with Bank’s policies and procedures.
  • Review, analyze and compile report on year end completeness exercise for the administrative expense accounts for WFA QA purposes.
  • Review based on checklist, Monthly Submission Reports from country offices, follow-up with the offices; compile and prepare reports for HQ
  • Review, analyze and compile report on GRIR and Vendor Open items for country offices, follow up as appropriate, with country offices, submit report to Analysts of the team.
  • Review cash replenishment requirements from country offices, perform due diligence.
  • Follow up with country offices as appropriate.
  • Compile & prepare financial information and relevant statistics on a periodical basis from WBG systems and tools to support team.
  • Review and prepare files for India GST related accounting and refund submission; coordinate with various units to ensure completeness of information/documentation.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • B. Com with a minimum of 3 year’s experience.
  • Other relevant professional qualification is desirable.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning system like SAP is required.
  • Exposure to other systems like PeopleSoft, proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications viz, Excel, Word, PowerPoint would be an added advantage.
  • Strong conceptual skills and ability to interpret data, explain resolutions/ideas in a clear manner.
  • Very good written and oral communications skills (including ability to write clear, concise and complete procedure).
  • Ability to prioritize and carry out multi-tasking, multi-functional work program.
  • Exhibit a personality that enables the incumbent to be client focused, flexible and an excellent team player.
  • Ability to effectively work with various levels of staff with-in the department and across the Institution.
  • Self-motivated person with high degree of initiative and a strong team player.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting and good working knowledge of WBG Policies & Procedures, applicable to carrying out daily responsibilities.
  • Understand and apply relevant policies and procedures, ability to identify relevant resources in completing various tasks.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment regarding relevant policies and procedures.
  • Nationality of India.
