World Health Organization (WHO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Finance Specialist in Washington, D.C., United States. The duration of this post is 2 year.

The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Finance Specialist will perform the following functions-

  • Liaise with the Organization’s External Auditors and manage the interim and biennial audits:
    • Coordinate the logistics for the External Auditors’ visits at PAHO headquarters and country offices.
    • Create, manage, and maintain the SharePoint site for audit liaison schedule documentation.
    • Coordinate the responses to Audit Reports, Management Reports and the Report of the External Auditor, ensuring compliance with appropriate accounting standards and Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Prepare status reports of outstanding recommendations for Executive Management, the Audit Committee, and the Governing Bodies.
    • Manage the project budget for External Audit, ensuring that bills are accurate and paid in a timely manner.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, with an emphasis on accounting theory and applications.
  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration would be an asset.
  • Combined national and international experience in accounting and finance in the private or public sector or a minimum 6 years if national experience only.
