Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Programme Management Officer will perform the following functions-

  • Assist in the planning and facilitating of workshop related to the Divisional work programme.
  • Participate in the identification of new or emerging governance, public administration and development management issues of potential concern to Member State and the international community, particularly those of a regional or global nature and help design the division’s contribution to addressing them them.
  • Research, analyze and present information gathered from diverse source related to public institution and SDG implementation and leaving no 1 behind.
  • Propose, design and supervise substantive research and study, and prepare or review report, background document, analytical publication.
  • Coordinate and closely monitor the Strategic Programme of the Division, including the review and analysis of issue and trend, preparation of evaluation and audit.
  • Generate and design data collection tool, particularly in relation to the Division’s Expected Accomplishment (EAs), Indicator of Achievement (IAs) and the recording of output; review, analyze and interpret response from Branche as well as the EO and CDO, identify problem/issue and prepares conclusion for the Director’s review.
  • Provide substantive backstopping to consultative and other meeting, notably the Committee of Expert on Public Administration, conference, etc., to include proposing agenda topic, identifying participant, preparation of document and presentation, etc.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • University degree in public administration, governance, business administration, management, economics, international affairs or a related field is required.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration, or related area is required.
  • Experience in budget management is desirable.
  • Experience in programme development, formulation, implementation and monitoring is desirable.
  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
