United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Programme Specialist in Maung Daw, Myanmar.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Programme Specialist will perform the following functions-

  • As the Programme Specialist, under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Sittwe Field Office, you will be responsible for leading the planning, monitoring and evaluation of all programme activities in the areas covered by the Maungdaw Sub-Office, ensuring delivery of quality results in accordance with the UNICEF Country Programme of Cooperation (CP), Multi Year Work Plans (MYWP), Annual Management Plan (AMP) and Humanitarian Action for Children (HAC).
  • Applicant will also be responsible for building the capacity of local counterparts, partners and staff, as well as establishing and maintaining dialogue and undertaking advocacy with local government and other key local stakeholders to support the implementation of the CP and efforts to advance children’s rights to survival, development and wellbeing as established under the CRC, international treaties/frameworks and UN intergovernmental bodies.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Government, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Policy, Social Development, Community Development, or other relevant disciplines, with specialized training in conflict resolution.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in international development, with increasing professional responsibility, some of which is served in developing countries.
  • Experience of working in emergencies is required.
  • Experience of managing a team and relevant professional experience in a UN system agency, as well as experience of working in fragile environment, are also assets.
  • Oral and written proficiency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.
