World Health Organization (WHO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Regional Adviser in New Delhi, India. The duration of this post is 2 years.
The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Regional Adviser will perform the following functions:
- Collaborate and provide technical assistance to the Member States in the technical areas of prevention and management of injuries, violence, disabilities and rehabilitation;
- Provide technical support to national authorities for planning, implementing, supervising, coordinating and evaluating the programme areas mentioned above. This also includes the establishment of multi-sectoral coordination mechanism for an effective delivery of the programme.
- Promote and build capacity of Member States in developing surveillance systems for injury, violence and disabilities and provide support in analyzing and using surveillance data for policy and programme development;
- Promote and technically support the development of research in relevant areas under these programmes and assist in the documentation and dissemination of research results and best practices;
- Take the lead in the development and management of the inter-country programmes in the above fields in support of the relevant national activities;
- Be the focal person to plan and organize inter-country workshops and training courses on public health aspects of the programme and provide technical support in designing and developing relevant training programme and material in the countries;
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have:
- An advanced university degree in medicine, public health, management, or health related sciences.
- Health related PhD.
- At least 10 year’s of relevant experience, including considerable experience obtained in an international context, in the field of public health.
- Experience in planning, project management and system administration; public health research-preferably in the areas of prevention and management of injuries, violence, disabilities and rehabilitation; teaching/training of health personnel/providers.
- Broad knowledge of principles, practices, methods and technologies in public health management, especially in areas of his/her responsibility.
- Ability to have close collaboration with nationals and staff members.
- Expert knowledge of English.
