The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Senior Economics Officer in Sydney, Australia.

The Senior Economics Officer will support country programming and the identification, development, design, preparation, implementation, and monitoring of lending, grants, and technical assistance (TA) operations in one or more countries that comes under the responsibility of the Pacific Liaison and Coordination Office (PLCO).

The ADB aims for an Asia and Pacific free from poverty.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Senior Economics Officer will perform the following functions-

  • Lead and support country strategy, country programming, and the preparation of result-based country operations business plan (COBPs) for 1 or more country that come under the responsibility of PLCO.
  • Lead and support the implementation of COBPs through regular monitoring and reporting, including interaction with all concerned government agency and development partner in the PLCO country.
  • Coordinate and engage with government, development partner, and other relevant stakeholder in implementing the high-level development agenda on alignment, harmonization, and development effectiveness.
  • Lead and contribute to the identification, processing, and implementation of lending, grant, and TA operation.
  • Provide guidance, advice, and comment to team in the administration of sector and program loan, grant, and TA operation.
  • Lead and support socioeconomic, thematic, and sector study that contribute to PLCO’s knowledge product, and oversee their dissemination.
  • Support and contribute to PLCO’s regional cooperation and integration work.
  • Identify opportunity for collaborative work, cofinancing, and facilitate liaison with development partner.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Finance, or a related field; preferably with Master’s degree or equivalent.
  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience in economic analysis and policy, particularly with regard to developing economies, and at least 4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in program and stakeholder management.
  • Experience in project design or administration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
