World Health Organization (WHO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Sourcing & Market Intelligence Specialist in Washington, D.C, United States. The duration of this post is 11 months.
The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Sourcing & Market Intelligence Specialist will perform the following functions:
- Capture strategic data and information, trends and scenario analysis, and other business analytics in support of planning and execution for the procurement of commodities for the Strategic and Revolving Fund;
- Conduct and present solid analyses as an input to procurement strategy development and PAHO’s strategic engagement with key manufacturers/suppliers;
- Provide intelligence on best practices, latest trends and developments in innovative public and private sector procurement; synthesize and disseminate this data across PRO and with Vendors;
- Build the capacity to improve knowledge on the key global and regional health supplies markets (e.g. vaccines, essential medicines, NCD treatments, medical devices, specialized equipment) to support the establishment of the most appropriate and effective procurement approach to secure the best supply and pricing conditions for Member States;
- Position PAHO with Member States as the best source to learn about global/regional health supplies market intelligence to support strategic initiatives to increase access;
- Support efforts to identify and develop potential sources in the Americas region that could participate in the PAHO Revolving Funds, reducing dependency from sources outside of the Region;
- Increase resiliency of PAHO’s sources by increasing visibility of our supply chains beyond our primary suppliers (e.g. understanding the critical suppliers of our suppliers);
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, procurement and supply management or in any other field related to the functions of the post, from a recognized university.
- 7 years of combined national and international experience in purchasing management or contracting in either the private or public sector, leading continuous improvement initiatives, policy and standards development and compliance.
- Very good knowledge of English or Spanish with a working knowledge of the other language.
- Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese would be an asset.
