The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Specialist, Publications, Knowledge Management and Information Networks will perform the following functions-

  • Provide technical support and guidance to the PWR Office on editorial and publishing matters.
  • Propose and develop knowledge management strategies, in coordination with technical staff, for the strengthening of access to technical and scientific information and dissemination in the country, according to the technical cooperation priorities; promote knowledge sharing initiatives aimed at improving demand for and easy access to technical-scientific knowledge on health by the general public.
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of the Organization’s Health Information Policy, focusing on marketing and disseminating the publications and materials authored by the different technical programs.
  • Collaborate in the identification and establishment of partnerships with governmental and non-governmental organizations for the promotion of publications and other information dissemination services.
  • Support the implementation and development of educational and training activities for the staff and technical cooperation initiatives based on the Organization’s Digital Literacy Program.
  • Select, acquire, classify and catalog reference books, audiovisual material, documents from international and national agencies, on public health and other related issues, for inclusion in the collection of the technical and scientific publications of PAHO/ WHO, according to established procedures.

Applicants must have-

  • Bachelor´s degree in the field of human or social sciences from a recognize university.
  • 3 years of experience in publications, knowledge management and scientific communication.
  • Experience working on technical cooperation projects in international organizations and public health agencies would be an asset.
