Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Operations Officer will perform the following functions-

  • Manage MIGA’s post-contract activity throughout the life of executed contracts and act as designated MIGA contact to service clients’ needs.
  • Follow- up on contractual obligations (including, but not limited to, annexes, overdue premiums, development effectiveness indicators, E&S obligations, etc.), preparation of amendments, contract assignments, closing notes, consent letters, as well as other official documents.
  • Ensure compliance with filing procedures of project documents and contracts of guarantees.
  • Maintain close coordination with the Sector Manager (SM) and relevant underwriter on contract issues which may arise during routine monitoring and follow up.
  • Advise and update SM(s) and MIGA’s management on changes to the portfolio in terms of sector concentration and cancellations.
  • Communicate with MIGA clients (in coordination with the SM) to maintain optimal MIGA coverage for existing projects, as well as to identify new business opportunities via existing clients using various business development tools.
  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional projects teams within MIGA to carry out portfolio modifications by conducting due diligence and risk assessment that includes evaluating legal and financial documents.
  • Assess the degree and types of non-commercial risks likely to be involved in the modifications of prior concurrence and determine how these risks should be addressed under the existing terms of the MIGA contract.

Applicants must have-

  • MBA or Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics or International Business or related field plus a minimum of 5 to 7 years relevant experience.
  • Professional experience in the financial services industry.
  • Experience in portfolio management or project financing with a focus on investments in emerging markets (with a financial institution, developmental agency or consulting company).
  • Experience with handling legal documentation.
  • Sound knowledge of business, contractual and corporate financial practices and policies.
  • Familiarity with financial management, analysis, reporting, and auditing.
  • Ability to analyze issues, diagnose problems and produce high quality work on short notice.
  • Strong project management skills, ability to be flexible, to prioritize work among multiple competing demands, propose reliable solutions, and implement projects effectively and efficiently.
  • Understanding of accounting and internal control related issues.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues from various backgrounds, and to assert initiative and leadership when appropriate.
  • Ability to work independently and to use prudent judgment to acquire help from other team members when necessary.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
