The purpose of the Emergency Response Manager position is to ensure high quality and cost effective programme/project implementation within the designated geographical area.

NRC provides assistance, protection and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Emergency Response Manager will perform the following functions:

  • Develop strategy, technical guidance and SOPs for the emergency response.
  • Develop robust emergency setups based on appropriate needs analysis with an integrated program approach.
  • Responsible for developing and quality compliance of all donor proposals, budgets and donor reports related to Emergency response.
  • Ensure high technical quality and synergies in project implementation of the emergency response.
  • In close collaboration with the CC specialists contribute to the development of macro LFAs reflecting the emergency response strategies and approach.
  • Ensure that key learning is extracted from the emergency response implementation, and incorporate them in emergency response and staff development processes.
  • Ensure systematic training and build capacity of technical staff.
  • Responsible for development of emergency preparedness planning within the country operation.
  • Represent NRC in relevant forums/Clusters of Southwest and Northwest regions, including in meetings with national authorities and donors at national level related to emergency response.
  • Compliance and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience from working as a Senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian context.
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Technical CC expertise.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Professional fluency in French, both written and verbal.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of the context in central Africa (Cameroon is an advantage).
  • Experience in programme strategy development.
  • Experience in Project Cycle Management.
  • Experience in M&E management.
  • Experience in capacity building of staff and partners.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of protection mainstreaming and Accountability to Affected Populations.
  • Demonstrated experience in representation and advocacy.
