United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Project Management Officer in Beijing, China. The duration of this post is 1 year.

UNOPS mission is to serve people in need by expanding the ability of the United Nations, governments and other partners to manage projects, infrastructure and procurement in a sustainable and efficient manner.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Project Management Officer will perform the following functions-

  • Provide substantive support in the strategic planning and formulation of industry positioning, setting specific goals and standards for output.
  • Identify opportunities emerging from projects and partnership with key governments, research institutes and private sector.
  • Effective promotion for potential investments and business linkage for food industry development in the Food Safety Project.
  • Provide support in the formulation and follow up on food safety projects with both public and private sector in the Food Safety Project to ensure relevant partners to have concrete cooperation or investment in the Demonstration Zone.
  • Support the local government to develop enabling policies for the food safety project.
  • Establishment of the capacity building mechanism for the food safety project.
  • Foster a positive environment of highest standards and values with the key work team in Changchun.
  • Ensure team work results through effective communication, motivation and appropriate allocation of available resources.
  • Ensure regular discussions on day-to-day business, performance or any matter of concern and manages the recruitment of personnel and effective and efficient succession with the key project partners.
  • Internal capacity building for the team in Beijing and in Changchun.
  • Prepare and conduct trainings for local government officials, Zone Operators and project team members to provide them with both information and tools on how to better work with relevant strategic partners.
  • Promote and create space for innovation and innovative measures to strengthen the knowledge management and learning agenda.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • First level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in Agriculture, Food Safety, Business Administration, Project Management or other relevant discipline is required.
  • Advanced University Degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Food Safety, Business Administration, Project Management, or other relevant discipline will be considered an advantage and may substitute for some of the required years of experience.
  • PRINCE2 Foundation, PRINCE2 Practitioner and/or PMP Certification will be an asset.
  • Minimum 4 years of research and strategic planning experience in agriculture, food safety and other related industry is required.
  • Project management experience in either public or private sector organizations.
  • Solid network in relevant industries to support research and outreach is desired.
  • Management Consultancy backgrounds is a plus.
  • Working experience outside China is an asset.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Chinese (Mandarin) is required.
