The position holder will be responsible for managing components of the NRC Shelter & WASH projects and staffing in Northwest Syria.

NRC provides assistance, protection and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Shelter & WASH Project Coordinator will perform the following functions:

  • Line management of project staff.
  • Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures.
  • Contribute to Shelter and WASH strategy development, project proposals and provide input on needs and gaps.
  • Manage and implement delegated portfolio of Shelter and WASH projects (activities, budget and project documentation) as delegated from Area Manager in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements, and ensure high technical quality.
  • Provide regular progress reports to Area Manager.
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities.
  • Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills.
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders.
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience of project implementation in humanitarian/recovery contexts, also 2 years of experience of working in construction, engineering, architecture with technical Shelter, WAS Hand Emergency Response expertise.
  • Knowledge with the context of Syria.
  • Ability to coordinate with Shelter & WASH Project Manager and lead the delegated portfolio of Shelter, WASH or related projects in Northwest Syria.
  • Nationality of¬†Jordan.
