Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Analyst will perform the following functions:

  • Contribute to specific operational activities at all stages of the project cycle (identification, preparation, appraisal, negotiations, board approval, and supervision) including participation in the design and development of project components, implementation support, and reporting.
  • Draft (or provide substantial input to) key project documentation such as aide memories, ISRs, PAD, Restructuring Papers, TORs, ICRs, etc.
  • Liaise with procurement, financial management, safeguards, and legal specialists who are part of the team to monitor/contribute to the drafting of relevant documents.
  • Carry out research and analytical tasks and provide quantitative analysis.
  • Participate in Bank missions and discussions with client representatives.
  • Provide guidance to task teams on operations procedures and help resolve operations issues.

Applicants must have:

  • Master’s degree in education, economics or relevant field with a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Familiarity with World Bank operational guidelines and procedures, project cycle, fiduciary and safeguards responsibilities is a plus.
  • Knowledge of educational topics.
  • Understanding of policy making process and the role of education in that process.
  • Understanding of World Bank’s development initiatives and policies and practices related to lending and non-lending operations.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to apply these in carrying out complex research and operational tasks.
  • Ability to deliver timely and high-quality products in areas of responsibility.
  • Advanced computer programs knowledge useful for operational analysis such as spreadsheets, databases and graphics.
  • Excellent communication skills, both in oral presentations and writing sections of documents.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability to work in a team and intercultural environment with minimal supervision.
  • Proven track record of multitasking, managing competing demands, and effectively delivering on tasks.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of Arabic is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills in English.
