Head of Supply Chain & Emergency Response Preparedness at WFP, Dhaka, Bangladesh

World Food Programme (WFP) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Head of Supply Chain & Emergency Response Preparedness in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The Head of Supply Chain & Emergency Response Preparedness will ensure an effective and integrated supply chain approach meeting the capacity enhancement requirements of government partners as well as food assistance needs of beneficiaries.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Head of Supply Chain & Emergency Response Preparedness will perform the following functions-

  • Take lead in the adaptation, translation and roll out of the regional logistics emergency training curriculum and simulation exercises in support of national response capacity; ensuring coherence in internal WFP logistics emergency response preparedness, highlight common links between projects and ensure communication of lessons learned, approaches taken and strategies implemented.
  • Provide capacity support to the Government for local and international food procurements for the Government’s School Feeding Programme in Poverty Prone Areas and other social protection programmes as relevant.
  • Work in close collaboration with senior cross functional colleagues to align procurement activities and promote an integrated supply-chain approach to food assistance.
  • Lead and chair the Logistic Cluster and make it fully operational and vibrant and establish liaison with the Global Logistic Cluster and Corporate Preparedness Platform.
  • Represent the Logistics Cluster in the Humanitarian Coordination Task Team (HCTT) platform and other working groups (e.g. UN-CIVIL and Military platforms) as relevant.
  • Co-chair Food Security Cluster meetings and support the implementation of its work plans (the in-country Food Security Cluster is co-led by the Deputies of FAO and WFP).
  • Align service or country strategy, policies and programmes to the global supply chain strategy and the WFP Strategic Plan, to achieve operational cost efficiency, agility, reliability, quality and to support national capacity strengthening.
  • Lead supply chain planning and oversee and coordinate periodic planning across functions and with partners to develop consensus on supply chain operational plans.
  • Coordinate implementation of agreed plans in close cooperation with key supply chain stakeholders.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • University degree preferably in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Logistics, or other related field.
  • First University degree with additional years of related work experience and training/courses.
  • Experience in managing supply chain operations including coordination with internal and external stakeholders and supporting emergency programs.
  • Experience in shaping and implementing operational supply chain strategies in a country.
  • Experience in operational and strategic supply chain planning.
  • Fluency in English language.
  • Intermediate knowledge of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and WFP’s working language, Portuguese.
