Programme Policy Officer at WFP, Juba, South Sudan

World Food Programme (WFP) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Programme Policy Officer in Juba, South Sudan.

The Programme Policy Officer will be responsible for organizing, preparing for and leading field mission deployments to carry out large scale registrations, general food distributions (GFDs), rapid assesments and other related emergency response activities, including deploying in emergency surge capacity to support WFP Sub Offices.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Programme Policy Officer will perform the following functions-

  • Provide expertise and capacity for ERU strategic and operational planning.
  • Lead team of between 10 and 20 staff in accessing hard to reach affected beneficiary through in-kind food assistance.
  • Coordinate mission pre-deployment preparation and ensure all mission equipment, material, team supply, finace and cargo are mission ready.
  • Ensure all team member are adepuately prepared, briefed and equipped for the expected duration of mission assingment.
  • In close collaboration with local authority and implementing partner, where necessary, coordinate and manage the implementation of registration and food distribution to affected population in mobile response location.
  • Monitor and document the capacity of implementing partner against the process indicator checklist.
  • Supervise and guide Programme and Cooperating Partner staff in the implementation of food distribution, at each mobile team location.
  • Work closely with the WFP Security Office and liaise with the Emergency Response Unit in Juba to ensure team security and welfare in the field.
  • Ensure all mission specific reporting including narrative and distribution report are prepared and submitted to relevant WFP Unit as required.
  • Ensure all operational procedure, communication protocol are observed.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance.
  • University Degree with additional years of related work experience and trainings/courses.
  • Implemented programmes and provided input into designing operations.
  • Provided input into policy discussions and decisions.
  • Fluency in English language and the duty station’s language, if different.
  • Nationality of South Sudan.
