The World Bank Group (WBG) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Senior Trade Economist in Islamabad, Pakistan.

WBG has set 2 ambitious goals to push extreme poverty to no more 3 percent by 2030, and to promote shared prosperity and greater equity in the developing world.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Senior Trade Economist will perform the following functions-

  • Project management (project preparation and supervision), carrying out the necessary preparation and supervision activities, from a technical perspective as well as paying particular attention to other issues (financial management, procurement, safeguards).
  • Lead technical assistance activities related to trade and competitiveness as needed.
  • Lead the policy dialogue on trade and competitiveness with the authorities, including the preparation of short notes to inform that dialogue.
  • Contribute to discussions on regional integration and trade agreements with the authorities and the regional team working on regional integration.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Economics from a reputable university and at least 8 years of work experience, with a focus on trade policy and growth as well as strong interpersonal and team working skills.
  • Statistical Knowledge and Experience – Knowledge of econometric and statistical analysis techniques and of related principles underlying Bank economic work and strong analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Solid Knowledge of trade and competitiveness policy areas (trade policy and investment, regional integration) in Pakistan and capacity to influence policy decisions.
  • Knowledge and work experience with other economic policy areas (macroeconomic policy, fiscal management, growth).
  • Nationality of Pakistan.
