Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Social Development Specialist will perform the following functions-

  • CIF Gender Program support
    • Support the Sr. Gender Specialist in implementing the CIF Gender Action Plan Phase 2, including supporting communication and outreach to partners under the program, including the MDB implementing entities, pilot countries, and others.
    • Contribute to enhanced design of gender program work stream on knowledge and learning, and coordination with related team members in CIF AU (Evaluation and Learning Initiative; Results team et cetera).
    • Work with the Sr. Gender Specialist in supporting MDBs and pilot countries on gender technical assistance requests.
    • Support development and maintenance of gender expert directory.
  • Portfolio Monitoring and Reporting
    • Maintain the CIF gender database of program portfolios, and undertake gender analysis of investment plans and projects for reporting in CIF semi-annual reporting processes.
    • Support the Sr. Gender Specialist in preparing the annual progress report on CIF Gender Action Plan implementation.
    • Track Trust Fund Committee member approval comments on gender and work with Sr. Gender Specialist to follow-up with MDBs regarding responsiveness during implementation.
    • Work with the Results team of CIF to improve gender-responsive reporting in CIF results frameworks.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • Graduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as sociology, anthropology, geography, economics, gender, international development, environment, or climate science.
  • Expertise in the gender aspects of climate change and CIF-related sectors, including challenges, solutions and institutional gender mainstreaming, with a minimum of 5 years (preferably 7 years) of professional experience in areas such as knowledge generation, research, advocacy, policy, or projects/programs.
  • Working knowledge of the processes of international financial institutions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with networks in the gender, development, and climate change fields.
  • Experience working in developing countries preferred.
