The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Technical Officer will perform the following functions:

  • Provide work stream leadership related to global normative work on the future of health needs.
  • Coordinate global normative work on guidance on the use of projection modelling for understanding future health needs.
  • Contribute to the development of user friendly training materials for WHO tools for economic evaluation.
  • Develop global price databases to support future modelling projections.
  • Support the development of technical guidance notes for developing health benefit packages in countries.
  • Provide technical assistance to countries in developing HTA mechanisms.
  • Coordinate the organization of consultations with Member States and relevant stakeholders and liaise with external and internal stakeholders during the development of normative guidance on predicting future health needs.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • Advanced level university degree in economics or health economics.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ combined experience in economics and/or health economics at the national and international level.
  • Experience supporting countries in developing health sector plans.
  • Strong technical skills in health economics, with a track record of developing models/tools for cost-effectiveness analysis, including health impact and economic costing and pilot testing in countries.
  • Expert knowledge of English.
  • Beginner’s knowledge of French.
