The purpose of an Education Officer position is to contribute with specific technical competences to project implementation. This position will normally not entail management responsibility of staff, but under certain circumstances the job may entail management responsibility for a very limited number of staff at assistant level.

NRC provides assistance, protection and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Education Officer will perform the following functions:

  • Ensure compliance with CC strategy, tools, handbooks, guidelines and standards.
  • Education specific technical responsibility for implementation of technical activities of Education project(s).
  • Education specific technical responsibility for tracking of financial expenditures for technical activities of Education project(s).
  • Education specific technical responsibility for project documentation of technical activities of Education project(s).
  • Provide specific technical support and capacity building towards project staff.
  • Provide specific technical analysis and feedback to NRC representatives in coordination forums.
  • Assess, promote and document ideas for technical improvement and further program development options.
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.
  • Properly monitor the SIP implementation, keep documents and report on time.
  • Take the leadership in the design, implementation and M&E of the technical components of NRC projects and programs as needed.
  • Capacity building or NRC staff related issues as needed.
  • Plan activities according to set time-table and ensure that all staff members are aware of responsibilities.
  • Coordinate education project activities with PED, DED, UN, NGO and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate and distribute Kits, Tents, Books, stationaries.
  • Monitor the implementation progress of SIP, ALP, and Kit distribution, Tent Distribution, suggesting required actions for the betterment of the project and reporting the findings on time.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, semiannual and annual reports on time.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • University degree (preferably from Education Faculty or similar).
  • 4 year’s experience from working within technical expertise area in a humanitarian/ recovery context.
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Core competency expertise.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of the context in (in ALP programs).
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of the local language (Pashto).
  • Experience with start-up, exit or similar.
  • Nationality of Afghanistan.
