The World Bank Group (WBG) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Senior Communications Officer in Paris, France.

 WBG has set two ambitious goals to push extreme poverty to no more 3 percent by 2030, and to promote shared prosperity and greater equity in the developing world.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Senior Communications Officer will perform the following functions-

  • The Head of Donor Country Strategic Media and Communications is the most senior communications role in Europe responsible for developing and delivering the overall communications strategy in Europe and other donor countries outside North America.
  • This is a newly created position created to address the challenges of a rapidly changing policy and communications environment using new approaches, to enhance political and financial support with the Bank Group’s authorizing environment.
  • The role requires an exceptional understanding of the European media landscape, a track record of campaigning and advocacy, and an established senior network.
  • Major responsibilities include providing high-level support for our advocacy work in Europe, advising on the most strategic use of senior WBG executive voices, managing digital initiatives, measuring impact, and helping to manage risk and reputation issues for the WBG in Europe.
  • The Head of Strategic Media and Communications (Donor Countries) works with a small London and Paris-based communications team to manage key relationships with Europe-based international media and lead on strategy development for the communications outreach in support of the WBG’s overall mission.
  • This role will require the holder to develop detailed knowledge of WBG priorities as well as the institutional relationships with European donor governments, EU institutions, UN organizations, CSO’s, and the private sector and work in close collaboration with ECR departments responsible for those partnerships.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • Master’s degree in Political Science, Economics, International Relations/Public Affairs, Journalism or other relevant field, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, with a focus on multilateral organizations, development, and international financial institutions or a Bachelor’s degree with 13 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven track record of senior level communications work including strategic media management, combining traditional and digital strategies, advocacy and campaign building.
  • Proven ability to assess and identify reputational risk issues, and in designing, implementing, and, where appropriate, personally leading, crisis management strategies, and rapid response.
  • Business Judgment and Analytical Decision Making – Analyzes facts and data to support sound, logical decisions regarding own and others’ work.
  • Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills, including proficiency to write and edit complex subject material for purposeful structure, clarity of ideas, and logical, persuasive presentation.
