United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Programme Officer in Banjul, Gambia.
The Programme Officer will be accountable for effective engagement with the National Nutrition Agency (NaNA) and the Department of Social Welfare (DSW) of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MoHSW) to support and monitor the implementation of the Cash transfer programme “Building Resilience through Social Transfers for nutrition security in the Gambia (BReST)” funded by a EU Grant.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Programme Officer will perform the following functions-
- Support the NaNA and DSW to ensure the adequate implementation of the BReST programme. Identify areas of administrative, financial and logistics support and act accordingly.
- Support NaNA and DSW in ensuring that data on selected beneficiaries is properly managed and readily available for effective planning, adjustment and for evaluation purposes.
- Support UNICEF to effectively advocate and communicate to the relevant stakeholders and policy makers on the objectives of the BReST.
- Work and support the UNICEF team to plan, implement and administer the programme in the selected districts.
- Ensure funds are delivered to the NaNA and the Payment Institution (which will be identified by tender) on timely manner following UNICEF’S Harmonised Approach to Cash Transfer (HACT) procedures to ensure regular and predictable delivery of the cash transfer to selected beneficiaries.
- Support the definition of the operational aspects of the BReST programme and the revision of all guiding documents (e.g. Operational Manual, Programme Document, Annual Work Plans, Building Capacity Plans, Communication Strategy, etc.).
- Support the operationalization of the BReST program’s monitoring and evaluation.
- Knowledge generation and sharing on the BReST at both national and local levels.
- Undertake monitoring activities and produce periodic reports in compliance with donor contract requirements.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced University degree in project management or equivalent background, social development, development studies or other relevant disciplines.
- 5 years of relevant professional work experience in project management and social development work (preferably cash transfer, nutrition and livelihoods enhancement).
- Fluency in English and local working language of the duty station.
