World Health Organization (WHO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Assistant in Cape Town, South Africa. The duration of this post is 2 years.

The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Assistant will perform the following-

  • To monitor the progress of the provinces in maintaining polio free status.
  • To conduct epidemiological investigation together with the Provincial EPI Manager and Provincial Surveillance Officers for special reported conditions like suspected measles and neonatal tetanus cases.
  • To collate priority EPI disease notifications from assigned provinces and to analyse data on monthly basisTo visit the active surveillance sites on a regular basis concentrating on poor performing districts/sub-districts within the provinces.
  • Liaise closely with EPI Managers, meeting with them at least monthly and prepare/submit reports.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • High School Diploma
  • Postgraduate qualification in Public Health (MPH) will be an added advantage University Degree/Diploma in Nursing or other Health related field from a recognized institution Registration with the relevant Health Professional Council required.
  • At least 10 to 15 years experience, performing duties in Nursing, Midwivery, EPI or other health service delivery areas.
  • Vaccine preventable diseases, surveillance, epidemiology or statistics.
  • Expert knowledge of English.
