The Health Manager and Project Coordinator will focus the response to Ebola epidemic but also other health emergencies such as malaria, cholera, and yellow fever outbreaks, or support to health and nutrition needs for displaced populations.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Health Manager and Project Coordinator will perform following functions-

  • Project Development and Management
    • Ensure coordination of all Ebola responses activities in collaboration with all programmes and partners, and report timely and daily to the Senior Project Coordinator.
    • Assist in strengthening the macro level management of health emergency program planning, implementation, monitoring, coordination and resource mobilization and utilization.
  • Sectoral Planning, Implementation, and Monitoring.
    • Support the development of action plan on prevention, preparedness and response.
    • Provide technical leadership in data-driven prioritization and implementation of Emergency strategies and interventions.
  • Collaboration, Networking and Partnership
    • Assist UNICEF Beni Coordination and the government of DRC to mobilise and leverage additional resources to prevention, preparedness and responses of Ebola outbreak.
    • Maintain close working relationships with other UNICEF sectors, particularly nutrition, HIV and WASH, and program communication to ensure integration of the Ebola response.
  • Project Delivery & Analysis through Results-based Approach
    • Ensure UNICEF, government and non-government staffs understand and apply right-based approaches and humanitarian principles to Ebola programming.
    • Promote the quality of Ebola program through the formulation of goals, strategies and approaches, using results-based planning methodology and terminology.
  • Evaluation and Reporting
    • Collaborate with Monitoring and Evaluation officer to timely, efficiently, rigorously and transparently monitor, evaluate and report on effectiveness and impact of Ebola response.
    • Ensure corrective action is undertaken to address bottlenecks identified during evaluation exercises.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • Advanced university degree in one or more of the disciplines: Public Health, Health Epidemiology, Public Health Administration, Health Education, Medicine, Social Sciences.
  • 8 years of relevant professional work experience.
  • Field work experience.
  • Experience in facilitating technical support in health-related emergency and humanitarian preparedness.
  • Experience in programme/project management, and UNICEF policies and strategy to address conflicts, natural disasters, and recovery.
  • Experience working in the UN or other international development organization an asset.
  • Background/familiarity with Emergency and gender mainstreaming.
  • Fluency in French and English is required.
