World Health Organization (WHO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Infectious Hazard Management (IHM) Officer in Lome, Togo. The duration of this post is 18 months.

The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Infectious Hazard Management (IHM) Officer  will perform the following functions-

  • Advise on the development, implementation monitoring and evaluation of national development strategies and plans for the prevention and control of diseases with a high risk of pandemic and epidemic risks, ensuring compliance with HMI strategies at the national level.
  • Monitor the early prevention, detection, verification, evaluation and investigation of outbreaks and dissemination of epidemic outbreak data in close collaboration with other headquarters teams (HQ) and Regional Office (AFRO) on the basis of the risk assessment and health information management.
  • Adapt infectious risk management policies, concepts, tools and global strategies and manage their implementation at the country level for the prevention and, if possible, elimination of epidemic diseases / risks.
  • Work with partners, improve epidemic control approaches and methods in different epidemiological situations.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or higher) in medicine, public health or health field from an accredited / recognized institute.
  • Specialized training in epidemiology. Specialized training in infectious diseases.
  • At least 5 years of national professional experience in the planning, development and implementation of the infectious disease control and prevention program, including epidemic prevention and control, infectious risk management and dangerous pathogens.
  • Relevant experience with inter-agency mechanisms used to coordinate preparedness and response to health emergencies.
  • Beginner knowledge of English.
  • Expert knowledge of French.
