World Health Organization (WHO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Project Manager in Geneva, Switzerland. The duration of this post is 1 year.

The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.

Key Job Responsibilities

The Project Manager will perform the following functions:

  • Support the full operationalization of the Global Polio Strategy 2022/2026; including support for the integration of the Key Performance Indicator monitoring system into the global POLIS.
  • Deliver on the specific activities of Objective 5 of the Global Surveillance Action Plan by conceptualizing, planning, implementing, and managing a specific polio information management action plan for 2022/2024.
  • Coordinates with the Polio Information Management System (POLIS) project team (including HQ Polio Data team, GIS Manager, SIA data specialist, etc.) to ensure the vision for the project is successfully translated into the requirements and solution design.
  • Liaises with all stakeholders and encourage utilization of POLIS; liaise with partners, receiving feedback from and providing required support; receive, evaluate, and address access requests from all stakeholders.
  • In partnership with internal stakeholders, support further development and technological enhancements of polio information management systems at all levels of the organization.
  • Anticipate future programme needs and provide input to overall departmental policies on projects and activities that are closely related to polio information management.
  • Coordinate the global polio information and data management network and foster inter-departmental, cross-regional,inter-regional and intra-regional collaboration.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • An advanced level university degree in public health, epidemiology or related field
  • At least 7 years of experience including at international level in information management, monitoring and evaluation, and/or data of which at least 4 years in epidemiology or polio eradication.
  • Relevant experience working with developing countries.
  • Experience managing and implementing large-scale projects that streamline data and information collection, collation, and dissemination at country-level.
  • Expertise in epidemiology of vaccine-preventable diseases, especially polio
  • Expertise in information management, data management, monitoring and evaluation-Strong skills establishing and managing large-scale information,data and/or monitoring and evaluation projects at country-level
  • Expert knowledge of English.
  • Expert knowledge of French.
