United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Human Resource Officer in Mogadishu, Somalia. The duration of this post is 1 year.

UNOPS mission is to serve people in need by expanding the ability of the United Nations, governments and other partners to manage projects, infrastructure and procurement in a sustainable and efficient manner.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Human Resource Officer will perform the following-

  • Full compliance of HR activities with UN rules and regulations, UNOPS policies, procedures and strategies.
  • Effective implementation of the internal control, proper design and functioning of the HR management system.
  • Somalia Office HR business processes mapping and elaboration/establishment of internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in HR management, control of the workflows in the HR Unit.
  • Information and advice to UNOPS staff on the conditions of service, duties and responsibilities, and privileges and entitlements under the UN Staff Rules and Regulations.
  • Support to the implementation of the protocol for performance appraisal process, facilitation of the process.
  • Support to effective learning management including establishment of the Whole Office Learning plan and individual learning plans in collaboration with the Senior Management.
  • Organization of training for the Somalia staff on HR-related topics.
  • Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field in combination with additional 2 years experience.
  • Master’s Degree in related area (Advanced degree) will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Office 2010 and newer versions) is required.
  • Experience in a conflict/post-conflict environment is highly advantageous, prior experience in Somalia is an asset.
  • Knowledge of UN/UNOPS HR rules and regulations, policies and procedures is an advantage.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work under pressure and meet specific deadlines is desired.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment is desired.
  • Fluency in written and oral English and the language of the duty station required.
  • Knowledge of second UN working language desirable.
  • Nationality of Somalia.
