International Finance Corporation (IFC) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Operations Officer in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Operations Officer will provide technical advice to clients and project management support for value chain engagements across IFCs SVC advisory programs in Sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on key strategic priorities including fragile and conflict situations, jobs, youth and women.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Operations Officer will perform the following functions-
- Work closely with the team, support the design and implementation of the IFC SME and Value Chain Solutions program with focus on key strategic priorities including fragile and conflict situations, jobs, youth and women.
- Work with the SVC team to support the identification and prioritization of value chain project opportunities, identification of clients and lead work with clients to draft work program, with a strong focus on fragile and conflict affected countries.
- Support the implementation of a series of client projects, including oversight of training or other consulting partners, ensuring timely delivery and communicating results.
- Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation process of IFC’s SME and Value Chain work to ensure strategic relevance and effectiveness, ensure focus on key strategic priorities including fragile and conflict situations, jobs, youth and women.
- Build strong relationships with clients, global and regional private businesses, banking and multi-lateral partners, Government officials and other relevant stakeholders to further develop the program.
- Work in close collaboration with other IFC business units managing client relationships or value chain projects.
- Contribute to corporate initiatives such as engagements with the World Bank Group’s Global Practices and Cross Cutting Solution Areas – including Jobs, Gender, and drive the development of new initiatives to support SME Development and improve the performance of SMEs in value chains.
- Provide intellectual leadership and ensure the development and dissemination of state-of-the-art techniques and knowledge in SME Development, developing, and actively driving, in consultation with other IFC units, IFC strategy and agenda in this area.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including demonstrated technical competency in area relevant to SME Development and integration of SMEs in corporate value chains (as customers, suppliers, retailers and distributors).
- In-depth knowledge and preferably hands-on experience in SME and supply chain development in at least two sectors (e.g., ICT, light manufacturing, transport/logistics, food/beverage, construction, textile).
- Demonstrated thought leadership in relevant areas is an advantage.
- Excellent English language skills.
- Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is an advantage.
