The Livelihoods Specialist will be responsible in supporting the Livelihoods project manager (LHPM) to supervise the three DRC Livelihoods teams in Duhok, Erbil and Sulaymaniyah in the implementation of the programs and coordination activities.

DRC fulfills its mandate by providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations – refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities in the conflict areas of the world.

The Livelihoods Specialist will perform the following functions:

  • Livelihoods Projects
    • Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of all livelihood projects in KR-I.
    • Oversee of all livelihood activities including project planning, implementation and follow up.
    • Prepare and maintain up to date work plan and track expenditures, in line with project and budget documents.
    • Prepare and maintain up to date procurement plans and track progress in line with project and budget documents.
    • Work with MEAL team to agree strong MEAL plans for projects.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Ensure staff development through coaching, mentoring, training and way to day follow up etc.
    • Manage internal staffing issues including attendance monitoring and leave plans.
    • Make program recommendations and suggestion to activities within the Livelihoods team.
    • Regularly monitor project activities and provide timely inputs and feedback to the LHPM.
  • Other
    • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Line Manager.
    • Conduct duties in accordance with DRC Iraq Programme Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Conduct duties in accordance with DRC Code of Conduct.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Relevant university degree or similar education.
  • Possession of a training certification related to Livelihoods training is an asset.
  • Relevant experience – at least 4 years – in similar contexts.
  • Experience with DRC people of concern.
  • Experience in similar livelihoods assignments.
  • Strong communication and team work skills.
  • Knowledge of local laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work energetically.
  • Relevant computer skills.
  • Strong networking, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Understand the needs and requirements of international donors and local authorities.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and respect for people with special needs and other vulnerability.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible and respectful team player.
  • Nationality of Iraq.
