United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Communications Officer in Geneva, Switzerland. The duration of this post is 3 months.

UNOPS mission is to serve people in need by expanding the ability of the United Nations, governments and other partners to manage projects, infrastructure, and procurement in a sustainable and efficient manner.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Communications Officer will perform the following functions-

  • Coordinate and manage the communication function for the SDG Lab.
  • Assist with the process of audience mapping with the SDG Lab team.
  • Participate in the development of a Brand book, including a mission, vision and manifesto (purpose statement), and a brand structure (a set of guidelines for how the different elements of SDG Lab’s visual elements should be displayed in different contexts and communications products).
  • Coordinate the development of an outreach strategy that determines which tools and platforms are the most effective for each audience group and develop a plan with targets for how each one should be reached.
    • Write a number of pre-produced messages (headlines and blurbs) about the SDG Lab’s work that can be utilized in various content channels.
    • Direct SDG Lab staff and interns on content creation for the strategy.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • Minimum advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in communications, public relations or any relevant field.
  • A combination of a first university degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) with an additional 2 years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the education requirements.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in media relations and all aspects of communications work is required.
  • Proven ability to achieve coverage of issues and experts and develop good content is desired.
  • Experience in the UN system is desirable.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
