World Health Organization (WHO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Health Emergency Officer in Manila, Philippines. The duration of this post is 1 year.

The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Health Emergency Officer will perform the following functions-

  • Review the current status of operational readiness of the Regional Office and country offices using the readiness checklist and report the readiness status on a dashboard.
  • Provide technical support in gathering pre-event risk information in preparation for an event.
  • Provide technical assistance in drafting and/or revising general emergency response plans and hazard specific response/contingency plans based on risk assessment.
  • Conduct Regional Office and country office trainings on IMS and ERF for WHO staff.
  • Test readiness of emergency operations systems through exercises and drills.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • Master’s level university degree in public health, medicine or international health or related field from a recognized university.
  • Specialized training in emergency management, international aid, humanitarian principles, health system resilience, or health cluster coordination.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, at national and international level, in developing and promoting collaborative partnerships in emergency and humanitarian relief operations, including experience in managing and coordinating health programmes in chronic and acute, sudden-onset emergencies.
  • Expert knowledge of written and spoken English.
