Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Natural Resources and Agriculture Economist will perform the following functions-

  • Provide information, analytical inputs and innovations in the design and deployment of policies of agriculture, agribusiness development, export orientation and promotion, sector assessments, strategy and road maps.
  • Conduct economic and sector work such as the identification and analysis of agriculture, agribusiness development, natural resources, and rural development sector development trends, economic analysis for regional and developing member countries specific sector studies. Participate in interdepartmental working groups on rural development sectors and divisional country and thematic teams.
  • Undertake productivity and profitability enhancing value chain analysis in rural development, natural resource sector projects including the use of information technology and communication.
  • Process and administer of loan and TA projects in agribusiness and market value chain development (both infrastructure and non-infrastructure financing projects).

Applicants must have-

  • Master’s degree in agricultural economics, agribusiness, finance, banking, or other related specialized fields.
  • University degree in agricultural economics, agribusiness, finance, banking, or other related fields, combined with experience in similar organization/s relevant to the scope of work particularly project processing and administration, may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree.
  • At least 8 year’s relevant experience in leading preparation and implementation of investment projects in the field of agribusiness and market value chain development at project operations level.
  • Familiarity with ADB’s sovereign lending business procedures is a priority. International experience working in several countries and in leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English is required.
  • Provide application of expertise within a specific area, or breadth across multiple areas with in-depth knowledge within one area.
  • Ability to utilize and share relevant knowledge to benefit the broader ADB community
