United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Associate Programme Specialist in Paris, France.
The Associate Programme Specialist will be responsible for providing professional and technical support, research and analysis as well as cross-sectional, divisional and programmatic activities and initiatives in the Sector for Communication and Information (CI).

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Associate Programme Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Organization of work and in the overall co-ordination of the Executive Office : collect and analyze data/contributions and prepare and consolidate briefings; provide support to Chief, CI/EO and ADG/CI in establishing and maintaining relations with other Sectors, Central services, and partnerships with Member States, civil society and the private sector; prepare draft responses to enquires and letters from Member States, Intergovernmental organizations, NGOs, research institutions and individuals on various CI issues.
- Preparation of the Medium-Term Strategy (C/4), the biennial Programmes and Budgets (C/5s) and corresponding work plans of any new CI initiatives: coordinate and monitor implementation of CI’s regular budget and extra-budgetary activities; gather and compile contributions for preparation of statutory reports and documents for submission to governing boards and funding agencies.
- Formulation and implementation of the sector’s decentralization strategy: collect programme and human resources related data on decentralization of CI activities; maintain knowledge base on UN reform and one UN approaches related to CI and assist in liaising with sector’s divisions and other Headquarters units to ensure timely programme, financial and administrative support to field offices.
- Implementation and delivery of programmes and projects: prepare plans for programme/project development, and identify opportunities or areas for increased inter-disciplinary collaboration and assist in its implementation.
- Coordination of the Sectors research and ADG/CI’s outreach activities : liaise with Sector’s Divisions and field units to identify research needs; Contribute in preparing conferences and meetings’ documents for ADG/CI and Chief, CI/EO.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced university degree (equivalent to Masters) in communication and/or information.
- A first-level university degree in communication and/or information in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- At least two years of professional experience in the field of communication and/or information, of which one year acquired in an international environment.
- Experience in implementing programmes/projects in the areas of communication and information.
- Excellent knowledge of English or French and good knowledge of the other language (English or French).
