Program Manager at DRC, Diffa, Niger

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Program Manager in Diffa, Niger. The duration of this post is 12 months.

The Program Manager will preferably have a food security and livelihood profile.

DRC fulfills its mandate by providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations – refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities in the conflict areas of the world.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Program Manager will perform the following functions:

  • Ensure the implementation and effective and qualitative monitoring of programs and activities towards beneficiary populations; especially food security and livelihood projects.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of all activities in accordance with the Basic Humanitarian Standard (CHS) and the DRC program policies, particularly on issues of gender, age, ethnicity and disability.
  • Ensure that gender is taken into account throughout the project cycle.
  • Ensure overall consistency in the use of program activity budget lines for effective and efficient use of resources, including financial and human resources, and all assets.
  • Support Project Managers in the monthly analysis of budget monitoring (forecasts, expenditure tracking, purchasing plans, etc.).
  • Put in place appropriate documentation and an effective system for archiving all processes and activities (eg organizing and facilitating needs assessments, distribution monitoring, etc.), and ensuring their regular updating.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree +5 in management, international relations or other related field.
  • Experience of at least 5 years in program management (or coordination).
  • Prior experience in managing livelihoods, protection, distribution and food security projects.
  • Experience in an emergency context.
  • Strong management and leadership skills in a pressurized environment.
  • Professionalism and respect of deadlines and commitments.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Perfect command of French (oral and written) and good command of English (oral and written).
  • Ready to work in a rural setting and difficult conditions.
