The World Bank Group (WBG) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Program Officer in Washington, D.C., United States.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Program Officer will perform the following functions-

  • Facilitate the development of the IJS strategic and annual work plans. Help identify areas of potential synergies, overlaps or gaps among the IJS units, identify best practices, and propose measures to continue to increase the effectiveness of the IJS.
  • Serve as facilitator for IJS coordination meetings (formal, informal, working groups, etc., as needed).
  • Lead and facilitate collaborative efforts on IJS communication, outreach, training, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting. Support and facilitate working groups.
  • Prepare and arrange regular meetings of the internal justice system governance bodies, and take follow-up action on recommendations or decisions.
  • Prepare the consolidated IJS annual report, and other periodic reports on the state of the WBG IJS and on trends of workplace issues for the IJS governance bodies, the WBG President and Board of Executive Directors.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • Master’s degree (with a focus on conflict resolution, organizational development, or comparable social science discipline) with 5 years of experience (in conflict resolution, international organizations, are highly desirable) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge, ability and experience with group dynamics, group process methods, techniques and as a facilitator.
  • Ability and experience as a neutral third party in conflict resolution processes is desirable.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and skills with stakeholders and partners.
  • Proven ability to work with confidential matters, work sensitively in multicultural environments, and possess an established reputation for integrity, sound judgment, fairness and discretion in dealings internally and externally.
  • Proven ability to promote and contribute to a collaborative team environment, build trust among colleagues, work effectively across disciplines and organizational boundaries including with senior officials, and effectively handle conflict.
