Programme Manager at UNDP, Honiara, Solomon Islands

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Programme Manager in Honiara, Solomon Islands. The duration for this post is 6 months.

UNDP works in nearly 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion.

Key Job Responsibilities

The Programme Manager will perform the following functions:

  • Responsible for overall planning, implementation, reporting, and timely delivery of good quality outputs and results of the Solomon Islands Water Sector Adaptation Project (SIWSAP).
  • Responsible for financial management of the project.
  • Provide effective liaison and coordination role with partners.
  • Responsible for all technical, planning, managerial, monitoring, progress and financial reporting for the project.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • At least 2 to 5 years of professional experience in project management posts with increasing modern management responsibility in fields related to the assignment.
  • Demonstrated flexible cross-cultural team leadership, diplomatic and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrable excellent verbal and written communications skills, both at a technical level and in the preparation of information for policy makers and wider civil society.
  • Familiarity with the goals and procedures of international organizations, in particular of the GEF and UNDP.
  • Knowledge of GEF co-financing approaches will be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience of aligning project goals with wider development frameworks for long term benefits and understanding of cross-sectoral national planning processes will be highly regarded.
  • Experience of evaluating both technical projects and organisational strategy, policy development and change management, including development of M&E frameworks will be an advantage.
  • Excellent working knowledge of English.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of Melanesia and their languages would be an advantage.
  • Fluency in the national pidgin is an advantage.
  • Nationality of Solomon Islands.
