Key Job Responsibilities

The Project Analyst will perform the following functions:

  • Project development and implementation, focusing on the achievement of the following results:
    • Participate in the development, formulation, implementation and evaluation of national activities related to the JCCCP; reviews relevant documents and reports.
    • Researche, analyses and presents information gathered from diverse sources related to climate change mitigation/adaptation; prepares various knowledge products, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc.
  • Financial management, focusing on achievement of the following results:
    • Assist in the financial management tasks.
    • Assist in monitoring financial resources and accounting to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial reports; in particular tracking and reporting on mobilized resources.
  • Project monitoring, focusing on achievement of the following results:
    • Monitor and analyses project development and implementation, including coordinating and participating in monitoring missions, conducting field visits.
    • Identifie problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions, captured in periodic monitoring reports.
  • Partnership building, focusing on achievement of the following results:
    • Develop and maintains relationships with main counterparts within country (e.g. with government departments, NGOs, farmer’s organizations, community leaders) to ensure buy-in and successful implementation.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • Advanced university degree in International Development, Economics, Environmental Management/Natural Resource, Sustainable Development or a Climate Change related field.
  • Certification in project management is desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management.
  • Experience in the Caribbean region desired, especially experience in Guyana preferred.
  • Sound understanding of climate change, sustainable development, environmental management issues, adaptation, vulnerability and impact, and other related sustainable development issues.
  • Very strong understanding of national and local development planning processes in Guyana.
  • Demonstrated evidence of research and reporting skills (e.g. published papers, policy analysis).
  • Proficiency in standard computer software (word-processing, excel, presentations, databases and internet)
  • Fluency in written and oral English.
  • Nationality of Guyana.
