World Health Organization (WHO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Finance Officer in Geneva, Switzerland. The duration of this post is 1 year.
The Finance Officer will support the financial operations in the Resource Management and Administration (Polio) Team, within the Polio Eradication department (POL) in the DGO cluster.
The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Finance Officer will perform the following functions-
- Monitor and maintain an overview of POL grants throughout the project cycle; work with ROs and WCOs to ensure awards are fully funded/budgeted, clear encumbrances, assists in ensuring funds are fully disbursed by award close dates.
- Track awards and download and clean GSM data, prepare monthly lists of due/overdue reports, draw attention of supervisor on senior Programme staff to reports that are critically overdue.
- Assist in award creation, distribution and amendment processes for all POL contributions.
- Maintain database of donor pledges and contributions for POL awards.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of POL departmental work plans.
- Analyze receivables and undistributed funds against POL contributions and take follow up/corrective action.
- Assist in the smooth financial management of POL awards across biennia: support department, ROs and WCOs on WHO’s end-of-biennium financial procedures.
- Work closely with the GSC Awards unit and WHO’s central accounts department for all issues relating to POL awards (receipt of income, award activation/amendment/distribution, response to queries, support the preparation of final certified financial reports, closure of awards; refunds to donors).
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- University degree in business, finance, accounting or a related subject.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in finance.
- Experience in WHO project financial management.
- Experience with an ERP system, particularly Oracle.
- Excellent IT literacy in Excel, Word, Access.
- Knowledge of English is essential.
- Knowledge of French is desirable.
