World Health Organization (WHO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Health Economist in Geneva, Switzerland. The duration of this post is 12 months.
The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Health Economist will perform the following functions:
- Develop the Department’s approach to health economic and econometric analyses, especially related to the triple billion targets, forecasting and projecting alternate scenarios.
- Liaise with statisticians/data analysts and contribute to modelling design.
- Coordinate with WHO’s technical programmes a consistent approach to health economic data and related analytics.
- Support technical programmes in ensuring that best practice is followed with regard to economic analysis.
- Develop approaches to use health economics to improve population health at global, national and subnational levels for health outcomes and determinants.
- Liaise with external experts to ensure that WHO follows best practice in techniques for economic analysis.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have:
- Advanced University Degree in public health or related social/medical science or economics or data science.
- PhD or equivalent Degree in a statistics / mathematics / data science / economics.
- At least 7 year’s experience at a senior level in health economics knowledge and experience of using economic and econometric and multivariate analysis related to population health at the global level.
- Expertise programming with statistical software, such as, R, SAS, Stata, SPS.
- Demonstrable understanding of the best practices in economic and econometric analysis and their application to population health.
- Expert knowledge of English.
- Intermediate knowledge of French.
