Open Society Foundations (OSF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Program Officer in London, United Kingdom.
The Program Officer will be responsible for bringing one or more complex strategies to fruition in a manner that makes effective use of resources relative to the changes sought.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Program Officer will perform the following functions-
- Responsible for grant-making activities relating to an area or areas of focus within EAP, including civil society development.
- Operates with considerable autonomy and makes decisions related to authorizing/declining grants within an approved budget.
- Works within the broader program strategy to design, make and assess grants and to make use of other appropriate tools for advancing goals.
- Builds collaborative relationships within and outside OSF (e.g., with existing grantees, prospective grantees, experts in the community, etc.)
- May participate in the development of overall program strategy and conduct research to support program design.
- Manages projects that include staff within/outside OSF and that may be regional or global in nature.
- Guides the work of program and/or administrative staff in support of grant-making or other program activities.
- Responsible for strengthening connections between OSF’s geographic and thematic programs consistent with OSF’s broader priorities, identifying opportunities where a shared approach might have the potential to create a broader impact.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent experience/education.
- Graduate degree preferred.
- 7 -10 years of progressively responsible experience in a mixed variety of roles (e.g. private sector, non- profit, government, DFI etc.) necessary to develop the rounded skills required for this role.
- Domain expertise within economic development and social justice, ideally on an issue where EAP has a concentration within its existing portfolio of investments: in particular, smallholder agriculture, financial inclusion and/or support to marginalized populations.
- Demonstrated success in advancing social change strategies, including planning, implementing and adapting to evolving situations.
- Comprehensive understanding and ideally experience of engaging with private, public and social sector organizations in developing integrated solutions.
- Project management skills, including the ability to direct others to effectively gather evidence and research to inform decisions or judgments.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English are important.
