International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Senior Knowledge Management Specialist in Washington D.C., United States. The duration of this post is 2 years.
The Senior Knowledge Management Specialist will responsible for the various knowledge management functions, which include communications, advocacy, partnerships, research, monitoring, crop development, intranet/information technology.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Senior Knowledge Management Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Support the creation and exchange of knowledge across different HarvestPlus units and relevant external organizations to collaborate on developing and documenting better practices, as well as technical and policy information for various audiences and purposes.
- Facilitate the development and engagement of external communities of practice in key functional and programmatic areas, in coordination with technical leads.
- Manage content and functionality for communities of practice that may be linked to, or housed within the HarvestPlus website.
- Ensure coordination between online and in-person events and dialogues (e.g., webinars, working groups, papers, global and regional meetings, etc.).
- Identify and promote best practices on knowledge creation and management at HarvestPlus country program level in collaboration with CIAT, IFPRI, and other CGIAR knowledge management expertise.
- Conduct a strategic assessment of knowledge management needs and gaps as required, to create and/or maintain a knowledge management framework/function for HarvestPlus.
- Coordinate HarvestPlus’ newly formed Information Technology Task Force (which guides strategy and technical planning, development, and implementation of web-based applications and interfaces such as mobile applications).
- Work across teams to plan, develop, maintain, and/or improve the usability and usefulness of existing and new documentation and data repositories.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, agriculture, nutrition, or a relevant technical field plus 7 years of experience working in communications, knowledge management, and/or development and management of communities of practice.Master’s degree plus 5 years of experience.
- 3 years experience working with developing countries, preferably in Africa, experience in South Asia an asset.
- Experience with research and/or monitoring and evaluation.
- Experience with user information-seeking behaviors in an academic/policy/non-profit advocacy environment, including creating and adapting online/social media tools such as blogs, on-line dialogues, etc.
- Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of developing web-facilitated communities of practice linking global and national level stakeholders, technical experts, and policy advocates.
- Training experience desirable.
- French and/or Spanish language skills.
