United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Social Policy Specialist in New York, United States.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Social Policy Specialist will perform the following functions:
- Strategy, thought leadership, and policy analysis to lead an organisational step change on gender and social protection
- Monitor and track progress against the strategic vision set for organisational change towards gender-responsive and ultimately transformative social protection programming, ensuring that UNICEF has a clear vision and is able to measure progress against core accountabilities in the new Strategic Plan.
- Development of tools, guidance and briefs & provision of technical assistance on gender and social protection
- Develop accessible tools/guidance/briefs on mainstreaming gender in UNICEF’s social protection programming, including in development, fragile and humanitarian contexts.
- Lead knowledge exchange, learning and capacity building on gender and social protection
- Lead organisational capacity building on gender and social protection, in close coordination with social policy specialists and gender specialists in HQ and Regional Offices, including internal and external training.
- Partnership-building, advocacy, communication and resource mobilisation
- Representation of UNICEF in technical discussions on social protection and gender; advocacy and communications, positioning UNICEF as the lead agency on gender transformative social protection
Identify opportunities for collaboration and leverage through UN agencies, International Financial Institutions, other multilateral and bilateral agencies, private and civil society organisations, funds, policy and academic institutions for the benefit of children and women.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have:
- Advanced University Degree in one of the following fields is required Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, International Relations/Development, Political Science, or another relevant technical field.
- Minimum 8 year’s relevant professional work experience is required.
- Experience working in a developing country is considered as a strong asset, including through government systems.
- Working at the international level, including with development partners is desirable.
- Background and/or familiarity with emergency is considered as a strong asset.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
