Team Leader – Gender Equality and Social Inclusion at Pacific Community, Suva, Fiji

The Pacific Community (SPC) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Team Leader – Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Suva, Fiji. The duration of this post is 3 years.

The goal of the Social Development Programme (SDP) is to ‘advance gender equality and equal development outcomes in the Pacific region’.

SPC’s mission is to work for the well-being of Pacific people through the effective and innovative application of science and knowledge, guided by a deep understanding of Pacific Island contexts and cultures.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Team Leader – Gender Equality and Social Inclusion will perform the following functions-

  • Delivering timely and relevant analytical, technical, research, programmatic and policy advice on social development issues – including on gender equality, youth development and culture – to SPC and its members, civil society, regional organisations and donors.
  • Working closely with SPC’s executive and technical divisions and programmes in support of a more coordinated and effective integrated programming approach to addressing the social dimensions of development programme initiatives.
  • Ensuring that everything the organisation does involves equal focus on the needs and contributions of women and men of all diversities, respects and promotes human rights, and contributes to the achievement of gender equality and social inclusion across all sectors.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • At least 8 years of experience at an advisory level with a specialisation in gender equality and social inclusion.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of policies and programmes in gender equality and social inclusion, gender and social analysis, or gender mainstreaming.
  • Knowledge and understanding of gender equality and social development issues in the Pacific region.
  • Knowledge and understanding of international principles and frameworks on gender equality and social inclusion, including the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), the Beijing Platform for Action (BPfA) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Understanding of legal and policy frameworks.
  • International, regional and national-level best practice approaches.
