World Food Programme (WFP) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Senior Logistics Associate in Sana’a, Yemen.

The Senior Logistics Associate will provide a range of specialised support functions and lead a team performing standard logistics/supply chain processes and activities to enable effective delivery of goods and services for all delivery modalities.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Senior Logistics Associate will perform the following functions-

  • Provide specialized support to the warehouse operations and activities of the country office, following standard processes and contributing, directly or indirectly, to the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
  • Identify, resolve and provide recommendations on specialised queries/requests for support, using initiative and following standard processes, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of enquiries with excellent client service mind-set.
  • Coordinate with respective locations to track trends and account for the inventory status from source to beneficiary on a monthly basis, ensuring the closure of all open documents, physical inventory (PI) posting for all location have been posted and forwarded for approval.
  • Support oversight for commodity accounting data quality and integrity.
  • Closely coordinate with the pipeline unit, to analyze operational pipeline and contribute to assessments and operational planning for all delivery modalities, to ensure that supply chain requirements are taken into consideration.
  • Closely coordinate with the programme unit, ensuring a timely delivery of daily and monthly dispatch reports to cooperating partners.
  • Manage documentation processing for execution of logistics operations (e.g. customs clearance, invoice verification), take appropriate actions to resolve operational issues escalating complex issues to the supervisor.
  • Perform research, collect data and conduct analysis, produce various reports specific to the sub-office and cooperating partners (e.g. warehouse monitoring, weekly and monthly in-bound/out-bound delivery, LTI (Landside Transport Instruction), transport and dispatch, total tonnage handled and losses) and ensure the accuracy of information in corporate systems to enable informed decision-making.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • Completion of secondary school education.
  • Post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the relevant field, including 3 years related to the function.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in logistics in a company, national or international organization or NGO.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications, particularly MS Office operating systems.
  • Knowledge of Oracle or another relational database management systems.
  • Experience in supply chain management systems.
  • Experience assisting in project management.
  • Fluency English and Arabic in both oral and written communication.
  • Nationality and Residency of  Yemen.
